This is an exhibit from the American Visionary Art Museum in downtown Baltimore. It is the only museum in the nation that features self-taught artists and many of them locals. I went there on Sunday in an attempt to escape the winter blues and was succesful. It was just the thing I needed to get some inspiration and get the creative juices flowing. Now, if I only had my camera back but more on that later.
The feature exhibit was “All Faiths Beautiful” and it was centered around religious pieces of art that promote harmony of religions. The works of art are complimented with quotes from religious figures and poets such as the Dalai Lama and Jelaluddin Rumi. In addition to the quotes, the walls of the AVAM had various selections from the Post Secret Project where you anonymously submit secrets on a home made post card.
The Bra Ball was not part of the All Faiths Beautiful exhibt. It was in the third building of the museum. The 5 foot ball features 18,085 bras donated from all over the world and weighs over 1,800 pounds.
Not a whole lot has been going on lately. My camera is still at the Canon repair shop (going on 3 weeks nows). I called today and they say that there is a good chance I will have it back by early next week.
I’m going to Deep Creek Lake this weekend with Nick. I’m really looking forward to that. A chance to get away for a weekend and mentally reset.
This week is also when I’m rolling out the first production phase of a large project that I’ve been working on for a year. I’m a little nervous and excited at the same time. It will be good to see this finally come to fruition and I like that I’ve had ownership of the project from inception to implementation.
